Our Project, Research, and Hypothesis
In our experiment, we will be testing wind and solar power to see which one will power each of 2 LED lights (red and white), a horn, and a clock the best. Our hypothesis is that the solar power will be more effective because the sun's rays provide more consistent and predictable energy. In our research, we found that both technologies have advantages and disadvantages. Solar power is very useful and cheap, however is is useless during the night and most of the winter. Wind power is more efficient on larger scales, but sometimes the wind is not going fast enough to supply the power. When combined, though, one can be used as a back-up to the other, for example, solar panels used during the night are useless, so wind turbines could generate power when it's dark.
